As a photographer, race weekend at your home track is exciting. It gives you the opportunity to share your city and your track with the country. I’ve lived in Austin for pretty much my entire life. It’s growing like crazy. Tech booms, real estate booms, culinary booms. We really have the best of everything. That includes our world-class track. I love my city and I love my track.
I’m starting to have that same love for the Pirelli World Challenge. This is my second year to attend the event as a photographer. In the past couple of months, I’ve been lucky enough to work with both RealTime Racing and M1 GT Racing. I’ve met drivers, crew, photographers, fans and PWC staff. Everyone I’ve crossed paths with has been fantastic. Not every racing series gives that same vibe.
And let’s talk about the racing. It’s great. The short sprint race format is perfect for a casual race fan, or the biggest car enthusiast. The field of cars is so impressive. The COTA entry list featured more than 100 cars ranging from Mazdas and Mini Cooper to McLaren, Audi and Porsche! The cost for a ticket is extremely affordable and the open paddock brings the fans close to the action. If you have the opportunity to attend a PWC event, I would highly recommend it!
Special thanks to M1 GT Racing and North American Sportscar for having me out for PWC weekend.
